Dante the Xoloitzcuintli

Level 3 Junior Artist Ages 6 to 9 · Medium detail Level 3/5
Tested by kids aged 6 to 9
Miguel's loyal companion Dante strikes a cheerful pose with his tongue out and characteristic skeletal grin. This hairless Mexican dog is full of personality, from his perky ears to his distinctive paws. The ornate floral borders framing the page add an authentic Day of the Dead aesthetic that perfectly captures the film's vibrant cultural heart.
Coloring tip

Dante's skin has wonderful texture and detail, so use light peach or tan for his body and add shadows with soft browns along his ribs and legs. The skeletal markings on his face should contrast nicely with his fur, and don't forget to color those decorative floral borders in warm golds and earth tones to match the Day of the Dead theme.
